We are creating a widget for external sites to use

In this widget will be some of our content and some links back to us. If the widget is used on another site will we get any back link benefit since it is in a iframe? I thought that iframes would not pass link juice back to us.

I just wanted to confirm for sure, some of my research has only turned up older answers and I wanted to make sure this was still the case.

Typically when using widgets as a linkbuilding method that contain iframes, the code you give users will look like this:

<iframe></iframe>

There was a report not long ago of a test that demonstrated links within iframes do indeed pass link value. Nevertheless, I think the general consensus is still that the links within iframes won't give you the same value that a normal link would provide.
