      Hey everyone,

I have an ecommerce website which sells "Widgets" and is called "Widget.com" (exact match singular domain name)

I have architect-ed my pages to be like this:

      www.widget.com/widgets/product-page.html

I loaded in the plural (or in some instances a keyword variant) as a subdirectory before my products, and some of my category pages.

Does this approach make sense anymore, or am I devaluing my pages ultimately by removing them from the root?

      thanks a lot!

Them being in the root or in one directory up makes no difference, but repeating the keyword twice is not needed and can be spammy, especially if you have that in the product page name like:

        www.baseball.com/baseballs/junior-baseball-bats.html

that is major keyword spamming, but having a directory with the same keyword as your domain, just plural is also a bit too much, i would lose it or find another target like a category to replace it with.

          Thanks for the tip Irving!

Lets assume that "basicball" was the same thing as a baseball, but just a different word (Tv vs television) that 'may' be interpreted by googel as meaning the same thing

          If I use www.baseball.com/basicball/product-page.html

would this be just as 'spammy' as if i used "baseballs" instead of "basicball"?

          thanks!
