Does a video transcript count as useful content by search engine?

I would say yes. If someone wanted to watch the video on your page, but they were using an ipad for example, and the video is in flash, they'd be able to read the transcript.

Kinda like having an ALT img attribute I guess, to make ure people will know what is on the page, even if the actual image of video is broken.

I say yes it is usefull information, and if unique you will rank for it, even better mark it up as a schema.org object,

the video object has a property for transcript
