What is the best eCommerce platform for a new business with roughly 500 SKUs?
The product selection will grow over time but we are looking for a cost-effective solution to get started. We'd like a platform that is brilliant for both customers and SEO while also being easy to manage behind the scenes. It also needs to be scalable, ideally to include international options in the future.
We've been looking at Magento, Kentico, Shopify and nopCommerce to name a few.

Personally I like Magento.
Open source so cost effective, very easy to use for customers, good back end, loads of extensions, large community and I have always found the SEO easy to sort...

Magento is a heavy platform and can easily bring a server to its knees if its not setup properly. BUT Saying that it is the best! Nothing else really comes close!! Just make sure you set it up properly. Been using it for 3+ years now and never looked back!

Go with Prestashop. Very economical and maintainable. For small stores like 500 SKUs this is a very optimal solution.

We have about 300 SKUs and use Oxid as our shop system. It is SEO friendly and supports multiple languages. The community edition is free. You can check out the online demo version: Link. If you want to connect it to an ERP system you have to buy the professional or enterprise edition though.

I personally like Shopify for Ecommerce Marketing. It's easy to use, manage and control the orders with the help of Shopify. Also, it provides the best payment option.
