      Hi,

I own an e-commerce marketplace where the products are sold by 3rd party sellers and purchased by end users.

My problem is that whenever a new product is added the search engine crawls the website and it ranks the new page on 4th page. when I start optimizing it to gain better rankings in search engines the product goes out of stock and the rankings drop to below 100.

To counter that I started showing other related products on the "Out of Stock" pages but even then the rankings are dropping.

Can someone help me with this problem?

As far as I understand your question, I would recommend automatically redirect these pages to those that still have related products in stock. Keep in mind, this is just one of possible solutions.

          I have two thoughts:

          1. What steps could occur to better optimize a page as soon as it is added?  Is there a better process flow so that you could start on page 2 or 1, rather than start at 4 and move up?  I'd think about optimizing earlier, if possible.
          2. Out of stock.  What about spending some time to find additional third party, reputable suppliers for the same product?  If multiple suppliers have sufficient quantities, perhaps the life of your page (and profits) continues longer?

Why do you think an optimized page with a good SERP drops quickly simply when there is "no stock?"  Telling the community a bit more about the evidence you see before and after the drop may help generate responses.

          Good luck to you!

I agree with Loren. We need more information, as I've never heard of a product page dropping quickly out of the rankings because of an "out of stock" message.

Perhaps the issue is more on the logistical side. Is there a way to make sure the product stays in stock? Or perhaps a preorder/backorder option in case a searcher wants to order the item anyway?

              Hi EssEEmily and Loren,

              Thanks for answering the question.

I have attached a snapshot of the page which shows up when a product goes out of stock. There is relevant information which is shown on the webpage and good amount of content as well. we also show related searches for that product so that there is valuable content and user interactivity present on the webpage but the rankings go down as soon as it goes out of stock.

i hope this image give more details on the page which shows up for you to answer.

              Thanks.
