Do we need to worry about where our domain is hosted anymore?does it make a difference anymore?

I went to a really interesting conference last week and one of the speakers who has been working in the SEO industry for 15 years now said that it doesn't make a difference anymore ranking wise. I would like to see what the community thinks on this subject?
Thanks

Me too, for example if you like to optimize a website in UK, than it's enough if you use ccTLD .uk domain , and the content in language en-uk.
I have #1 Position on google, on three different countries in Europe. All Server are in USA but they have only ccTLD domain, like myname.de ( on germany) etc..
Don't think about that more Ari, use ccTLD use the local language, like "german" in germany, and finish.;)

Hi Ari,
I believe setting up host only matters now for "site speed", but that factor can be important, if we look at user experience.
In rest, as in term of SEO, I believe that less important now.
I hope that helped,
