FB Shares in SEOmoz Keyword Analysis Tool
-
Hello everybody,
I'm quite confused in how to understand "FB Shares" in SEOmoz Keyword Analysis Tool Report. As You may know, this section is under report's "Social Signals" category.
Does this number counts whole FB shares of some website links by ALL FB users? Or is it a number of some website FB account posts? Some clearance would be very helpful..
The same question applies to other social signal reports: Tweets, Google+ shares.
Thank You for your answer!
Happy New Year!

I don't totally understand your question, but I'll give it a shot.
Go to the bottom of this page and click the Facebook button: http://www.shipoverseas.com/us/ship-car/latin-america/shipping-car-to-puerto-rico.html
That button is a "share" button. "You" are "sharing" that page on "your" facebook wall.
Now if you copy that URL and paste it on your wall, you are also "sharing" that URL.
Sharing is NOT the number of posts I make on the company's wall. That's kind of like tweeting on your own wall. Tweets on other peoples wall is counted, but you can't tweet yourself and have it count. So if I tweet a URL from your website, then you get a tweet in SEOmoz. If I share your url on my FB, you get a share. If I like your URL on Facebook. you get a like.

Francisco, thank You for your answer!
I do understand what the share is, but it confused me when I saw major inaccuracy in SEOmoz report and some FB account. Maybe it is just matter of update.
I will mark this question as answered.

If you are using a 3rd party social media company like ShareThis or AddThis, it should be a little inaccurate. I know what you are talking about because I have a few hundred FB Likes on my site, but SEOmoz shows different. I think it gets it's information from facebook's Open Graph.
