Social media strategy

I'm looking to start a social media strategy for a television documentary programme about a prominant British politician. Apart from Facebook and Twitter, are there any other sites I should be looking at and how can I measure success?

If your tracking in google analytics , you can surely use the utm link tagging to measure your marketing efforts.

As for social , i would also go with stumbleupon , reddit , maybe squidoo lens and so on.

Who authors the prominent political blogs that are revlevant to your story? Give each of the most influential a unique scoop on the program.
Sites like reddit could be valuable if you have substantive previews or information... don't point them to an ad or a trailer... point them to something engaging.

How do you plan to build an audience ahead of time to promote your documentary programme? What are you expecting back from the time, money and energy you have to invest here?
Get some partners. Get onto the social platforms of other british political commentators and use their already developed communities to promote yourself
