I am pretty excited about changing all my title tags (for the most important 7 pages) since I have seen my rankings jump up in the SERP just by adding the main keyword for my website in the title tag.

To make it easier I will explain my business. Simply,  I run an online jewelry shop, so basically the keywords I want to use is "Jewelry online" and for the main categories "Necklace", "Rings" and "Bracelets".

What I am unsure about is whether to use all the keywords in the main pages title tag or should I just use the main keyword "Jewelry online". I don’t want to create competition between my own pages of course.

Jewelry Online - Trendy Fashion Jewelry | Homepage

      Or

Jewelry Online - Necklace, Rings, Bracelets | Homepage

And the same goes for the main categories, should I include "jewelry online" or not, like:

Bracelets - Fashion Jewelry Online | Homepage

      Or

Bracelets - Trendy_ Bangles_ and Arm Cuffs | Homepage

Any suggestions what is the best practice for the title tag on main page and the main categories?

      Thanks

IMO you should use your main, more competitive keywords on your home page

        Jewelry Online | Company name

Then you can use the less completive words in category pages.

Bracelets | Trendy Bangles and Arm Cuffs

and then depending on your keyword research, you can even have individual product pages that are more focused on the long tail keywords. Keep in mind that the closer words are to the http:// the more relevant they are to your keyword optimization.

Trendy Bangles | Bracelets (make the url look like this, http:www.brandname.com/trendy-bangles/bracelets

        Gold Arm Cuffs | Bracelets...

        Elegant Tennis Bracelets | Bracelets...

It would help you get your main keyword higher, but only a bit, you are better going for a keyword per page.

The URL and the individual product pages are already optimized, like you explained.

My thought was that if I use the more competitive keyword, "Jewelry Online", on all Category pages it would boost my trafic on that specific keyword.

But I guess thats a bog NO, and I will only create competition between my own pages?

              Yes and no.

when you link from a page about Jewelry to another page about Jewelry, you are tell the SE that the target page is the importatnt page. if you have Jewelry in the link text you are doing the same. so if you have other pages about Jewelry and you link them to your home page with the link text stating Jewelry you will rasie the home page. so having said that you should not link away from your home page using Jewelry in the link text to anouther page about Jewelry.

you should link from your home page to your sub categories with subcategory in the link text, and you should linke back to the home page also.

Just think like you ae searching for Jewelry, you see a door with Jewelry painted on it, you open the door and there is a room with some Jewelry in it, but there is another door with Jewelry painted on it, in that room it is full of Jewelry.

the search engine would see the second room more important and the first room as the path to the Jewelry

                Thank you!

And the same strategy should be used on the title tag?

Because the URL strategy is already known to me and implemented on my site.
