Product category paging
It causes a slight loss of link juice which could add up to a big problem if multiple pages have this problem. Try canonical linking with this code. <---That is your basic skeleton <------Page you want to hold the link juice power, usually the strongest page. Hope this helps friend, Good luck on the quests! Should you worry about adding geo-targeted pages to your site?
Hello Clinthend, Panda makes it difficult for user-generated content sites to control what and how much of their site gets indexed. It used to be that if a page didn't rank well it wasn't a big deal since that didn't affect the rest of the site. I certainly sympathize with your dilemma. I think your idea sounds like a good way to approach it, though I'd probably go ahead and let users access the other geotargeted pages if you think they're useful (and if not, why have them at all, ever?) but block bots from indexing them. You can then allow indexing of particular ones as you get more high quality content onto them. Good luck! Everett @balibones

What can I do about missing Meta Description for category pagest etc.?
Hello SiliconBeachTraining, "Is there a way to add meta descriptions to these pages?" That all really depends on what content management system, if any, you are using and how much control you have over it. In theory, it is "possible" to do this with any site, and is highly recommended. In practice, however, you may be stuck with a 3rd party eCommerce vendor who can't or won't give you the fields needed in the back-end of their product to input that data. Even then, there are proxy services that act as a layer over top of your website that can give you greater flexibility. Assuming you're on a public or open source CMS like Wordpress or Drupal, there are plenty of plugins that let you do this. Just Google "adding content to category and tag pages" or something like that and you'll probably find plenty of resources and tutorials. Personally, I don't let my tag pages get indexed at all because they tend to be near duplicates of category pages, and of each other. I usually just apply a noindex,follow robots meta tag on those pages. As for category pages you can cut down the number by making sure paginated pages all reference the main category page using rel prev and rel next tags and applying a noindex,follow robots meta tag on those pages as well (though NOT on the main category pages; just the paginated ones like /2 or ?p=2). I also like to make sure that the first paginated page (i.e./ category/?p=1 or /category/page/1/) always references the main category page (i.e. /category/) as the canonical version in the html header area. Lastly, if you're going to write custom meta descriptions for each category, you might consider putting that same content as an intro to each category so they have more content than just a list of posts with snippets. I hope this helps. Everett @balibones

Replacing a site map
Another thought might be to place a noindex on the new pages to start with and as we migrate and 301 redirect the old to the new remove the noindex on the new pages ? That can work but it's not an approach i would use. It seems like a lot of extra work, you run the risk of forgetting to remove the noindex tag on some pages, and also you may wind up not having pages properly indexed for a month. If you publish a page today, Google may crawl the new page and see the noindex tag. You can then remove the noindex tag but Google may not recrawl the page for some time leaving your site without an indexed page. As part of the process of publishing the page, I would 301 the old URL to the new URL immediately.

Duplicate Content Resolution Suggestion?
Does having the line: DirectoryIndex index.html Have any use in addition to the lines you posted? Thanks.

Is 100% duplicate content always duplicate?
So your asking can you mix up rss data to try and make it look unique in Google's eyes and benefit from it. It will be seen as duplicate and when you have the rss links point back to the resource im sure Google will work that out.

Rel = author display issue
In a blog, post info is date and author name. It also includes the rel="author" tag which correctly attributes this content to the user.

301 from a Link Directory
Hey thanks for the reply. Yeah I was thinking a 301 of the whole of site a to site b's home page. Do you think that is worth it? exactly the same industry and same keywords...... It would be like me buying out a direct competitor to my company and 301'ing their whole site to mine.....

Canonical tags/wordpress permalink question
No, these are 2 separate things. I installed Yoast, and in the advanced setting you add the canonical tag. Permalink makes page, into names, and not numbered pages. Hope it helps.
