  • Agree with the music user experience too (at least offer an option to turn the sound off - as is offered inside the site) - I recently got married & that Christina Perri song was part of the ceremony so it didn't bother me as much but it could be a potential reason for some bounces, as Ryan mentioned. Expansion on Facebook & other social channels could be very good & low cost mediums for you to gain an audience. Start with your existing clients and leverage from their friends & family. Tag the models too (they can always be removed if unwanted) And yes... stunning photos - you're very talented!

  • Cool. When we launched them separately we overvalued the potential for ticket prices rankings and had so little respect from engines that double ranking was hard. Also, I wasn't as on my game with SEO back then. I think merging is the way to go, I am filing it into our dev. queue for the coming weeks.

  • Thanks for the help - my gut tells me that I shouldn't have to do it for every possible iteration that could be generated. So if I redirect the root url and Google has already indexed interior pages using the non-www url, will Google (et al) systematically revisit all the old links or start again at the root directory and have the (no longer) duplicate content just fall off the results pages and stop impacting my relevance?

  • Big flags go up for me here reading about your strategy. Why would someone expecting a Christmas page want to be shown a Valentine Day's page? Always look to the user experience as a guide to fixing your problems. Sure, some traffic might convert, but also look at the scenario from Google's perspective. You have all these links and traffic about Christmas now going to a page about Valentines day. How is that relevant? Deploying this method will actually cause you to lose rankings. Stay on target and keep the right traffic lined up with the right content, and instead, use your marketing efforts to boost the rankings for the correct holiday near the correct dates. Hope this helps.

  • I agree with Casey and Rob, apart from the "do or die" stance. If the other blog links back to the original article, and the original article is on your site, I don't see it as a big problem - as long as it's not something you do often - and as long as most of the content on your site is unique. Google will usually be able to figure out what the source is, if there's a link back to it. I'd still only have the article on the one site, most of the time. Make sure the blog you're posting on is worth giving your great content to as well - guest blogging can be an excellent way of increasing your own readership if you choose relevant, popular in your niche blogs. Also get some relevant anchor text if you can e.g. "Marc Miller regularly updates his Outdoor Gear Blog" (you can come up with something better than that!). If you haven't seen it, this is a great post about increasing blog traffic: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/21-tactics-to-increase-blog-traffic-2012

  • Then I would do it as you have and just understand it will take a bit longer.

  • I would go with the code the way Rasmus has laid it out for you. I will check out the tool and let youknow.

  • Many people experience the 'google Tease', where for days at a time, in blocks you will sometimes see these bumps in traffic. A recent article talking about this, I put in below. I bet, more than likely  - this is the case.. but you could go back over trending data and look to see if it has happened before and if you see patterns in the these traffic increases http://www.seroundtable.com/google-tease-14587.html Cheers. Hope this helps a little. Oh - I should also add that you should block any and all IP's in GA tracking that might screw the data (remove your IP, friends or office IP's, network IP's from people you know etc)... so clean the data up.. if you haven't already

  • Thanks for clarifying Megan! I'll make sure to keep that in the back of my head for next time when helping out. I really wasn't sure, but had a feeling the data would be lost when a new profile was created. Cheers!
