Affiliate Site with Unique Content - How to play it safe?
Hi kane Thanks a lot for your response In the long run, it may not be the only way to make money, but in order to contract the product, I gotta get the hits running through the site... bit of a viscious circle. I was a bit worried the rank will fall but I think you're right, with an affiliate site theres only so much you can do, as long as you follow best practice. Ive been worried about it also for bounce rate stats but having watched rands whiteboard friday, seems its not something I need to worry about YET... Thanks Kane

Unnatural Link Warning No Longer Showing in GWT?
Hi Cyrus, The GWT account belongs to the client, I just checked with them and they say that they are 'Not Sure' if they deleted the message or not which suggests that they possibly may have. Overnight there has been no upwards movement in rankings. Back to the original plan I think, we will finish all of the tabled tasks before submitting a reconsideration request. The link profile still looks a bit suspect to us and I am sure that Google aren't going to be any less critical. Thanks for your reply. Ade.

Google is somehow linking my two sites that aren't linked! HELP
I looked at your site and was not able to see any links from the plasticstorage.com site to the simplastics.co.uk site. I used a couple backlink tools and was not able to see any links there either. I did notice a huge drop in backlinks recently. Once tool showed you had 30k+ links in March on the plasticstorage.com site but have dropped over 10k links. Is it possible the links you are seeing in Google were present and have just recently been removed? If so, expect it to take Google 30 days to crawl all of your site and recognize the changes.

Should I be using use rel=author in this case?
Check out Google's Source Attribution tag - that's the way I'd go in this situation rather than author, unless the "scraped" copy changes author info, which is a whole different issue..

N/A page rank or "grey bar"
Hi Jarin, Firstly, the PR you're referring to is Toolbar Page Rank (TBPR), which is always out of date and not necessarily representative of your true Google Page Rank, just to let you know, so it's not something you should be overly concerned about or really paying much attention to. However, to cheer you up a bit, I've just checked your PR and it's showing up as 7/10, which is superb : ) SEOMoz uses Domain Authority (which I use far more frequently to judge the power of a website than PR) which is ranked out of 100. Your Domain Authority is 91 and your homepage authority is 93, which is an incredibly strong website and one you should be really proud of! Plus if your rankings and traffic are strong, you really don't have anything to worry about. Hope that puts your mind at ease a bit! Well done on creating a very strong domain.

Unique page titles for Joomla
You are likely seeking SH404SEF: http://anything-digital.com/sh404sef/seo-analytics-and-security-for-joomla.html We use Yoast's SEO plugin on all our WP sites, and the SH404SEF plugin on all our Joomla sites. Like Yoast, the SH404SEF extension uses best SEO practices and the author reads SEOmoz. If I had to compare the two extension, Yoast's would be considered better if for no other reason then it's more user friendly. Nevertheless the SH404SEF extension is awesome.

Should I delete a page or remove links on a penalized page?
Start with the page itself - is it adding value to your website? If not then even before you think about links you should consider re-writing or removing it. If it's a quality page with useful or interesting information on it then so long as the page isn't spammy then you should be okay to keep it. In a recent WBF, Rand suggested that ways to deal with negative SEO (whether caused by yourself or someone else) include: 1. Trying to remove the 'bad links', assuming you've worked out which ones are bad 2. Building more good links to outweigh the bad ones. Like you said, if you have good links, you may not want to lose them. If you're talking about a page that has been penalised (potentially during Penguin) then fix any issues with the site's content itself and then file a reconsideration request. And then get on with some great link building and promoting of your page.

Malware ranking drops
Yep, we have thought about that but we don't think that is an issue as there weren't any major updates around the time it should have been starting to recover.

Rel=Canonical on a page with 302 redirection existing
Thanks for help confirming that I have the right compromise solution Dr. Pete! Yep, I am going to that as well on GWT. Only problem is that it takes those dev's months to put in the html file so I could verify it.

Exclude Child URLs from XML Sitemap Generator (Wordpress)
AH! You did it Keith - I thought clicking 'update' at the bottom would do it, but there's a little link hidden in some text at the top saying "rebuild the sitemap manually". Finally it's done, thanks so much for your help! Mark
