  • Hi eyepaq, Two questions I thought I understood but don't know exactly what you mean: 1. What kind of issues do you mean by EMD (= exact match domain I presume) issues? 2. I don't know what you mean by "manual filters attached". Thanks for the help! Job

  • Excellent, glad you have a sitemap.  Sorry I didn't look at the robots.txt for the sitemap to begin with. So in looking at your sitemap I can't help but pay attention to your post frequency/or lack there of.  In addition to the newness of the URL, just over three months. I always feel that post frequency plays a major role in how quickly your site is indexed, so if your updating the blog every 2-3 days you can expect a quicker indexation time.  Especially if you do this for a long period of time. In your case I see some pretty long times in between posts.  They average out to about 12 days between posts.  Even though recently you've posted more frequently, you haven't really set a precedent to warrant Google coming back every two to three days. I realize that dedicating resources to write content can be tough, but if you want faster indexation I have to recommend that you increase the post frequency. Hope That Helps!

  • Hi Elissa It looks like you have 2 plug ins each producing a canonical tag on your Wordpress site, I will have a look at the plugins you have installed and report what I find. With a little luck we can get this issue resolved later today. Sean

  • Thank you SEO Moz! We are trying a Wistia hosting test for the next few months. Thanks for suggesting that and for all the great advice.

  • I too dropped 4-5 places on 2 of my danish sites around the 17th..  I have looked around on various forums and blogs regarding any google updates but nowhere does it seem to mention anything. But a lot of people seemed to notice similar drops around that day. Would also love to know more about that update if anyone got any more information on it.

  • Hi, Correlation doesnt always equal causation, what you reference is unlikely to be a cause of ranking decline inless something was done incorrectly e.g. have they rel prev'd your category page by mistake. (Even then im not sure that would cause an issue). If you want to paste your site and an example url in here, ill gladly take a quick look when I have a minute. Andy

  • My problem is that I do have the referrer, it's an internal page, often the page that is creating the duplicate content.  I keep searching for links that are generating the discrepancies and can't find them. I've run a report using xenu, but now I've got even more wood (can't see the wood for the trees). Can you recommend any good resources for using xenu? That would be a big help! Thanks Catherine

  • thank you all for all your valid pointers. the site is fairly new and yes the blog is getting newly created content. this might be it. that leads me to this question. since I do want particular pages to rank should I transfer authority from blog pages being ranked and if yes how?

  • Totally agree, it's kind of a non issue, improve the canonical if you can but really, don't sweat it.
