  • Hello Jackinmathis1, We would need to have a look at the page/source code to help with this question.

  • I checked the category page you provided and can see the following code: [image: example.com-Aesculap-809139-20.jpg] I also checked Google and the product page is indexed. It could be that Moz has just not found the internal links yet. I don't think you have a problem with this issue.

  • Don't think so as Google will update its index. If it's not too much work you can do it but not sure it's worthful

  • There is a bit more complexity in using a cname, but a lot of big systems should be able to handle it as a standard thing, unless there is an inherit security risk. I use them both with freshdesk and maxcdn. Like take this http://cdn.dh42.com/certified.png   and this http://dh42.com/certified.png The one with the cdn prefix is actually loaded from maxcdn, but it just looks like it came from my sub domain. Same with my freshdesk account, it is at help.dh42.com, but it actually is on their server. I would prefer a cname to a 301, but sometimes you don't have a choice. Do you currently have anything at the site you are wanting to redirect to NJoyn? Or are your just looking to make it easier when you need to tell people where to go to?

  • I see.  well looks like they already added the rel=alternative links into the code. I guess the only thing left to do is set the preferred domain in WM tools.

  • Hello! I took a look at your sites and we last crawled them in July so we haven't discovered any new links to follow to your site to update our index. We will only store indexed data for up to 80 days unless re-crawled. Using Raven Tools and others is a better way to look at your full profile while OSE looks for fresh, diverse, and important links. Hope this helps!

  • Thanks William, and yes we did redirects at the page level. It looks like we didn't have the correct analytics code in a few different templates so that might have been the cause of some of the drop. It's also been just over a week since we made the switch so we're probably still in that window were the drop should be expected.

  • The following post might be helpful - http://moz.com/community/q/online-sitemap-generator You can also use Screaming Frog to create sitemaps.

  • Hidden means the text will never be shown to an end user under any circumstances. It could be in a div with "display:none" as its style, or white text on a white background.

  • Great answer! I noticed SS assign images to their own pages. Is there a "best practice" for addressing this? Should I try to exclude the pages from being indexed?

  • My view is a little bit different, but to be 100% I would have to look at the site. If the application / module is using style="display:none" to hide the tag, I would not use it. The reason being is that multiple h1 tags on a page dilute or in some peoples opinion cancel out other h1 tags. There are valid reasons to hide h1 tags, like when you are doing fade ins or have a slider with it in there. So I am of the opinion that even if it is hidden Google will pick up on it. So you do run the chance of being caught for keyword stuff or it could cancel out your h1 tag that is displaying. (As far as I know there is no clear 100% information on how Google handles multiple h1 tags. I have heard all sorts of things including it registers the first one seen in code, it registers the last one seen in code, it combines the weight given to all of the h1 tags, and even that they don't matter it is text size above the fold that matters) If it were me this is what I would do. I would remove the text from the banners and use the built in functionality for the text. Depending on the location of them on the page really depends on how I would tag them, they could be h2, h3, span, ect. But I would opt for on page visible text over using a graphic with text. I realize that you do not like the style that it uses, but it is just a style that can usually be mimic'd with a style sheet. The reason I usually opt not to use text on banners is twofold. It cannot be translated and it cannot be searched.

  • Dennis, thanks for taking the time to write me. I have checked internal issues and couldn't find anything that would cause a drop. I did however see that I lost some links over the past few weeks, and I need to investigate that to figure out what happened. I realized that we lost visitors gradually since sept 21 but last sunday was when traffic completely dropped.

  • Hi Thomas, I would just look at the redirect's link profile. If there's nothing shady with it's links, then there's really no problem. Redirects are actually really awesome. The biggest ecom sites use it often.

  • Noindex tags and your author page (if you only have 1 author) For categories, leave it alone, just add a bit of unique content there, much like how ecommerce sites do it.

  • Linking with #part1 won't cause issues for indexation and how the site is structured. They're commonly used for internal analytics and other purposes that don't refer back to Id="" or name="" tags on the page. Regarding the rest of it, I'm afraid I'd have to see example code or the actual page to fully understand your question. If it's still an issue, feel free to leave additional code examples here and I can take a look.

  • Thanks for the info above. I think I'll find out if I can cut the text and try to put popup link.
