Google Instant Search? REALLY?! Why is this the result???
Ha, I was joking. Its not offensive but I can only imagine what other searches are showing up with sometimes. I'm in NYC. Sorry with late response, Sandy and slowed my internet resources.

Bar Codes for Event Sites
This is the right answer and essentially what we did. All the "event scanning" companies must be doing well given the fees and piece of the action they take. I had to laugh a couple of times. I appreciate your answer even if it was late. Robert

What is a really great bounce rate for a product or service site? What does Good look like?
Actually better! 0.7% WOW. ...if only... Interesting thought on header/footer though our JS is at bottom so not a 'slow' load.

Best way to recruit quality SEO staff?
This is really solid advice. I've been doing a combination of turning down smaller projects, leveraging existing relationships, and charging more to get the growth I'm now experiencing. I thought I'd get more no's when I increased fees, but surprisingly I haven't. I'm just starting my search for an employee now--fully understanding that it will take some time to train anyone for the position.

Why do most Local Directories turn around and lie and try to steal your clients?
Great, Robert! I'm glad my comment was useful in this way and I hope putting it in writing will at least give you the peace of mind that you are offering written guidance to the clients on this. Your care for their welfare is evident and I applaud that!

Press Release - using moz bar/OSE is reading domain not page? How? Why?
Then it has to do with a combination of the age of the page and the internal linking structure of PRweb. Prweb structures it's posts so that they belong to categories. As more press releases are posted they move farther and farther from page 1 of the category (and get less and less PR from PRweb's homepage). I haven't looked too deeply into this theory but I think it's a logical explanation.

Sliders and Content Above the Fold
The main considerations here are: 1. How is the slider interpreted by search engines and how the presence of a slider affects the interpretation of the page. Accessibility of the text/content of the slider and how this content may be affected when the search engine tries to determine the relevance of the page. If google is looking at the areas of a page and applying weightings etc (there's been a number of articles about the ratio of content vs ads for instance) then are you pushing more valuable content further down the page to a less important position and how much of a difference does this actually make. How different is this from putting a picture at the top of an article/page (although normally the H1 would come first) It would be interesting to test two copies of the same page - one with the slider above the content and one below to see what difference it makes. Does the position of the in the html make a difference? 2. From a user experience / conversion perspective - how effective are the sliders. I completely see your point about selling product. Yes, putting your goods on show to communicate to the visitor that this is what you do and how great they are makes total sense. When you're a professional services company using a slider to present generic "values" against stock photos then maybe it's not the strongest approach! How important is the fold to humans? I've read a number of times about how the old advice to put everything above the fold because users don't scroll is outdated advice and that people are more than willing to scroll down. I think the caveat here is that there has to be some sign/scent that they're going to find what they're looking for by scrolling down.

Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. Is there value in a presence on them?
Hi Robert Apologies for the late reply. beena crazy few days here in South Africa well lets put this into context. Having a Facebook presence and advertising on facebook using a PPC or CPM campaign are two different entities. I agree, from my experience, advertising a product for lead generation on Facebook for instance has been a waste of time and doesd not convert well at all to sales. I feel generally facebook users are there to have fun and pass the time rather than look for great deals and buy things. However, Facebook and using Facebook advertsfor branding and general brand awereness is pretty powerfull. Imagine the ripple effect of having 1000 users, who view your status and actually like it or comment or view it a few times. This gets fed into on to their wall and is seen by another 100 friends. So potentially you can reach 100 000 people with minimum effort. Once again, you arent selling anything but you are building your brand awerness. Zero cost, all to gain. All networks have their pro's and con's. You need to find what is important for the long term benift of your client and then strategise from their. perform your own tettst and start compiling data for that particular client on social media platforms. I hope that this helps youa little more
